IEEE (Eye-triple-E) is a non-profit, technical professional association of more than 380,000 members in 150 countries. The full name is The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., although the organization is most popularly known and referred to by the letters I-E-E-E. Through its members, the IEEE is a leading authority in technical areas ranging from computer engineering, biomedical technology and telecommunications, to electric power, aerospace and consumer electronics, among others. OUR MISSION IEEE's mission is to promote the development of electro-technology and allied sciences, the application of those technologies for the benefit of humanity, the advancement of the profession and the well-being of its members. OUR VISION We want our student branch to: 1) Serve as a medium for the college, the electrical engineering department and the students to communicate 2) Assist in the professional development and education of our membership primarily through local activities 3) Have fun! The IEEE Student Branch at UTEP is the largest student organization in the department of electrical engineering. We carry an active membership that ranges from 25 to 50 students on an average. |
