COURSE DESCRIPTION
Design and laboratory implementation of digital systems using standard,
integrated circuits.
PRE-REQUISITE : EE 4142
must be taken concurrently with EE 4342 . Laboratory fee required.
POST-REQUISITE :
COURSE OUTCOMES : Students completing EE4142 will be able to :

Apply different design methods for
digital circuitry from problem statement to physical
implementation. (C)
- Use good design techniques, especially
top-down design such as the ASM method. (I)
- Recognize and apply typical hardware
constructs for processing units. (C)
- Recognize and apply typical hardware
constructs for control units: hardwired and microprogrammed. (C)
- Write microcode using standard microcoding
techniques. (I)
- Use processor peripheral support chips, such
as MMUs, interrupt chips, etc. (D)
- Use computer aided tools to simulate and
verify designs.(I)
- Find information on specific chips, and how to obtain application notes.
